What is The Material Requirement for CNC Machining?
The commonly used materials for precision machining are divided into 2 categories:
Processing of metal materials or processing of non-metallic materials
(such as ceramics, plastics, etc.)
Metal hardness from large to small: Stainless steel > cast iron > copper > aluminum
- The first one is the requirement of material hardness. In some cases, the harder the better. It is only limited to the hardness requirements of the machined parts, processing materials can not be too hard. If it is harder than the parts, it cannot be processed.
- Second, the material is moderate in hardness, at least one level lower than the hardness of the machine. At the same time, we must also look at the role of the processing of the device, a reasonable selection of materials.
- In short, there are some requirements for precision machining materials. Not all materials are suitable for processing, too soft material is not necessary for processing, too hard material can not be processed.
For mechanical processing, the hardness of the material is lower than that of the machining tool. If the hardness of the machined parts is exceeded, the CNC machining tool may be broken.
