Nitriding Treatment Technology

Nitriding, is in a certain temperature, a certain medium make nitrogen atoms to penetrate the surface of the workpiece chemical heat treatment process. There are common liquid nitriding, gas nitriding, ion nitriding. Heating methods include non-vacuum heating and vacuum heating.

Nitriding technological process: forging – annealing – rough processing – hardening and tempering – finish machining – stress relief – rough grinding – nitriding – fine grinding or grinding.

– Products with nitriding treated have good wear resistance, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, anti-seizing, resist atmospheric and superheated steam corrosion capacity, resist temper soften ability, and reduce notch sensitivity.

– Compared with carburizing process, nitriding temperature is lower, so the workpiece deformation is small.

– Different material parts after nitriding treatment, surface color is different, steel after nitriding treatment, surface is usually silver gray or dark gray, titanium and titanium alloy parts surface is golden yellow.

– Nitriding is mainly used for precision parts with high hardness and abrasion resistance and difficult grinding, such as gears (especially internal gears), spindles, boring bars, cam, molds, etc. And required deformation small and heat resistance, wear resistant, corrosion resistant of parts (valves).
