What Is DACROMET Surface Finish?

Which is a new type of metal surface anticorrosive coating with aluminum, zinc and chromic acid as the main coating materials. Compared with the traditional electroplating process, DACROMET is a kind of “green electroplating”.

 

The matrix materials used in Dacromet are mainly steel and non-ferrous metals. After the reaction of coating liquid with the metal matrix, a layer silver gray anticorrosive film will be formed on the surface, which can isolate the matrix from the air and protecting the workpiece.

Dacromet is widely used in various industries such as construction, hardware, fasteners, road engineering and petrochemicals.

 

  • After using dacromet technology, the corrosion resistance of the product is dozens of times of the traditional galvanizing. Through the salt spray test found that ordinary Dacromet can reach 20 times of galvanized. Some parts in the nuclear industry use the dacromet process, the service life can reach 30 years.
  • The products with dacromet technology have very good impact resistance.
  • Dacromet can withstand high temperature corrosion, heat temperature up to 300℃
  • Dacromet produces less pollution during the production process.
  • Dacromet coating has good binding force with metal substrate, and has strong adhesion with other additional coatings. The treated parts are easy to be sprayed and colored, and the binding force with organic coating even exceeds phosphating film.
  • Dacromet can enter the workpiece deep hole, narrow slit, tube parts inner wall, etc.

 

While dacromet has many strengths, it also has some weaknesses.

  • Some dacromet contain hexavalent chromium ions, which are harmful to human health after long-term exposure (under environmental policy, dacromet no longer contains hexavalent chromium ions).
  • Dacromet’s surface hardness is not high, wear resistance is not good, and dacromet coating products are not suitable for copper, magnesium, nickel and stainless steel parts contact and connection, because they will produce contact corrosion, affect the product surface quality and anti-corrosion performance.
  • The surface color of dacromet process is only silver and white, which is relatively single, so other colors need to be processed again to obtain different colors.
