What Is Stamping Die?

Definition of stamping die

Stamping die is special process equipment for processing materials (metal or non-metal) into products (or semi-finished products) in cold stamping processing. It also called cold stamping die.

Material of stamping die

The materials used to manufacture stamping die include steel, cemented carbide, steel knot cemented carbide, zinc base alloy, low-melting alloy, aluminum bronze, macromolecular material, and so on. Most of the materials used to make stamping dies are steel. Commonly used types of stamping tie are: carbon tool steel, low-alloy tool steel, high-carbon high-chromium or medium-chromium tool steel, medium-carbon alloy steel, high Speed Steels, matrix steel, tungsten carbide, steel knot cemented carbide, etc.

Classification of stamping die

– According to the process characteristics, it can be divided into blanking die, bending die, drawing die, forming die, and riveting die.

– According to the degree of process combination, it can be divided into single process die, compound die, progressive die (continuous die) and transferred die.

– According to the product processing methods, it can be divided into punching and shearing die, bending die, drawing die, forming die and compression die, etc.

In-die tapping

In- die tapping is a new technology that replaces traditional manual tapping. The in-mold tapping technology makes the stamping die truly automated and efficient. The in-mold tapping technology makes the punched products do not require a second manual tapping, and the quality of the extruded products is guaranteed. Good finish, high efficiency, low cost, widely used in stamping process.
