Definition of electroplating

Electroplating processing is one method of using the electrolysis principle, to coat a layer of metal onto the surface of the electric conductor part. It is one method of surface finish, the electric conductor metal part is as a cathode, in a solution of salt containing a pre-plated metal, via electrolysis, to deposit the cations of pre-plated metal onto the surface of the electric conductor part, form a coating.

Definition of Zinc Plating

Zinc plating is one surface finish process, it is coated with a layer of zinc on the surface of the metal/ alloy/ other materials product, in order to  achieve aesthetic, anticorrosive and other functions.

Principle of Zinc Plating

In the dry air, zinc does not change easily, but in the humid air, the surface can produce a very dense film of zinc carbonate, which effectively protects the interior from corrosion. In addition, when the coating is damaged for some reason, so that expose a small area of inner the electric conductor part, the zinc will form a microbattery with the inner material, to make the substrate part become a cathode and be protected.

Performance characteristics of Zinc Plating

– The zinc plating coating is thick, with fine crystallization, and uniform without any pore, so it’s very resistant to decay.

– The zinc plating coating is relatively pure, corrosion in acid, alkali and other fog is slow, so it can effectively protect the inner part of product.

– The zinc plating coating after chromic acid passivation, will form white/ color/ military green/ etc, will be make the product more beautiful and generous, so as to have a decorative effect.

– The zinc plating coating is with well ductility, so the zinc plating products can be cold-punched, rolled, bent and other forms processes, without damage to the coating.
