Hardness Test Types
Hardness refers to the ability of material to resists the hard object pressing into its surface.
- HRA (Rockwell A): Used for measuring materials with higher hardness. For example: tungsten carbide, steel sheet, cemented carbide, surface hardened part etc.
- HK (Knoop): Suitable for measuring hard and brittle materials, it is often used for measuring enamel, glass, synthetic diamond, cermet and mineral etc.
- HRC (Rockwell C): Used for measuring material with higher hardness. For example: heat-treated steel, nitride, bearing steel, tool steel, etc.
- HRB (Rockwell B): Used to measuring softer steel and non – iron materials. Such as aluminum, brass and soft steels.
- HR30T (Rockwell 30T): Used to measuring softer steel and non – iron materials.
- HB5 (Brinell 5): Used for measuring aluminum, soft aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, brass, etc.
- HB30(Brinell 30): Used for measuring heat-treated steel, annealed cryogenic steel, impact material steel, deep impact steel strip material, etc.
- HV(Vickers): Suitable for measuring all kinds of materials.
- R(Tensile module N/mm2): Used for measuring heat-treated steel, annealed cryogenic steel, impact material steel, deep impact steel strip material, etc.
- HR15N(Rockwell HR15N): Used for measuring heat-treated hard steel, nitride, bearing steel, tool steel, etc.
