What Is Powder Coating?
Powder Coating is using a powder spray, spraying the powder paint onto the surface of the workpiece. Under the action of static electricity, the powder will be uniformly adsorbed on the surface of the workpiece, forming a powder coating. After high temperature baking flow flat curing, becomes the final coating with different effects.
Powder coating effect in mechanical strength, adhesion, corrosion resistance, aging resistance and other aspects is better than painting process, the cost is also under the same effect of painting.
Powder coatings are mainly thermosetting powder coatings. Its main varieties are polyester/epoxy, epoxy, TGIC curing polyester, polyurethane powder coating etc,. Use powder coating once can achieve corrosion and decorative effect.
Its features are:
- No solvent, can avoid safety and environmental pollution problems.
- One spray can achieve the required film thickness, it not only saves the baking times, but also reduces the energy consumption, improves the production efficiency and reduces the equipment site.
- Coating film performance is superior. For the same coating thickness, powder coating are better than the general liquid coatings in acid, alkali, salt corrosion resistance, high adhesion.
- The oversprayed powder coating can be recovered and reused, the powder utilization rate can reach more than 98%, saving the cost.
- Powder costing process is simple, only need pretreatment, powder spraying, curing and other procedures, easy to achieve automatic production, high production efficiency.
- It belongs to high temperature curing coating, curing temperature between 180 ℃ and 220℃.
- It is greatly influenced by the environment and has certain requirements on environmental temperature and humidity. It is difficult to coat thin coatings up to 40 µm.
- The coating has good compactness, adhesion, impact strength and toughness, high corner coverage, excellent chemical corrosion resistance and electrical insulation.
- Powder coating storage, transportation safety and convenience.
