What is Sand Blast?

Definition

Sand blast is one surface finish process, it uses the impact effect of high speed sand flow to clean and roughen the surface of the work-piece, to improve the mechanical performance.

Medium of Sand Blast

The most three common mediums of sand blast are glass bead, steel bead, and ceramic bead. Almost, we use glass bead blast, which can reach more delicate surface effect.

Feature

– Sand blast is the most through, the most general, the most rapid, efficient cleaning method.

– Sand blast can be arbitrary between different roughness, which is the other process can’t be achieved.

Application

-Before surface finish or bonding for the work-piece, use sand blast to remove all the dirt such as rust on the surface. Then establish an important basic surface on the work-piece. This surface can reach different roughness, via adjusting the particle size of the medium. Then it can improve the adhesive of the work-piece with material of coating and plating. Or make the work-piece bonding more firmed, to reach better quality.

– After casting-forging or heat treatment, used sand blast to clean and polish the work-piece, to get more beautiful surface.

– For the CNC machining parts, sand blast can remove the burr, and leave small round corners at the sharp edges, to make the surface more smooth, beautiful and precise.

– Sand blast can improve the mechanical performance of the work-piece. After sand blast, it will leave even and fine concave-convex surface on the surface of the part, then it can store the lubricating oil, so that to improve the lubrication condition, and reduce noise, to improve the service life of machinery.

– It can adjust the light decoration surface effect. For some special purpose parts, sand blast can achieve different reflective or matte light effect.
