What is Vibration Grinding for CNC Machining?

Vibration grinding is one kind of polishing process. It is in a three-dimensional grinding mode, rubbing against the abrasive material, to achieve the effect of polish the surface of products, debur and break sharp edges, chamfer, derusting, fine grinding before electroplating, etc. This polish process is suitable for all kinds of metal, hard plastic precision parts.

The most common machine we use is a vibratory grinder.

Classification of grinding materials: regular fused alumina/ white fused alumina/ ceramics/ plastic grinding stone/ high alumina ceramics/ high-frequency porcelain. Plastic grinding stone can be used for both medium and fine grinding, mainly for aluminum alloy parts.

Process of vibration grinding:

– Coarse grinding. The general machined product surface will have some burr, tooling marks, or for the long-term placement of unused parts, the surface has oxidation layer, rust, etc.  These products need to be some surface treatment. First put the grinding stone into the grinding machine and open the machine, then add water, add parts, and grinding fluid for the rough grinding process.

– Medium grinding. The same steps, with the white fused alumina, ceramics grinding materials, and grinding fluid.

– Fine grinding. The grinding material used is high alumina ceramics grinding stone, which needs to be added with brightening agent.

– Super fine grinding. Use high frequency porcelain and polishing oil with polishing powder.

During the vibration grinding process, the worker can sample check the machining condition of the grinding parts at any time. The time of grinding also varies according to the material of the work-piece being ground, process, etc.
